Cable Jackets

Polyethylene is the main OSP cable jacket material being used. The (PE) jacket's performance is dependent on its contact with the elements. As such, it is usually black to protect the plastic jacket from UV light damage.

Safety

Proper training and personal protective equipment are mandatory for aerial cable installation/ aerial plant construction as the nature of the job can be hazardous. Workers may be working above the ground on ladders, bucket trucks, and climbing poles, all whilst near transmission wires. Safety measures and protocols are taken to ensure the safety of the workers on-site.

Equipment

A range of tools and equipment are needed to complete an aerial installation job, some of which are GPS systems, measuring wheels, construction vehicles, hole digging equipment, etc. Pre-install meetings are also held during the initial survey results before work can begin.
